Peachy
After reading Kelsey's last post I decided to share our family tree story...
There is something about trees... a tree seems to have lots of mirrors into our creator and his creation. So many scriptures with trees. And since we did not have even one tree in our yard we decided to fork over $20 bucks at wally world in order to plant our first tree! A prophetic declaration of putting down roots in Kansas city. It is a beautiful peach tree that satisfied both Richard's stipulation that it be fruit bearing and mine that it have a season of flowering. And we actually already have peaches growing. Most are slightly larger than golf balls and some almost as big as a tennis ball.
So soon we will not only have fresh yummy local organic goat milk but also local organic peaches... Baker, you better watch out... :)

Dear Richard and Marci,
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your home! Marci, all of us regretted not being able to meet you and the children as well, but we agreed that you had to be an incredible woman for Richard to have married you. Richard, we all stand in deep debt to you. You have one of the most generous and open hearts that we have seen in a long time. You were such a blessing to us all. Thank you for your invite back, Marci. We eagerly accept. I know that Ahna (xanga.com/deadmanwalking220) is planning on coming back to IHOP June 29 – July 3. I don’t know if I will be able to make that trip yet or not. Either way, we all stand deeply grateful and appreciative of what you’ve done for us. Thank you for your hospitality.
Per your comment on healing, Marci, I have been doing even more thinking. I would completely agree with you on the point about a drunkard. We would certainly pray that God would work in his life to bring him out of that as soon as possible. A possible difference would be that he chose that lifestyle, while a sick person usually finds themselves sick without choosing it. Poor personal decisions certainly can play a role in this, but you see what I am saying.
Thus, when saying that sickness is the same as drunkenness, in terms of it being a result of sin, it currently seems to me that there is a crucial difference. The one is a result of personal sin, taking something to excess. The other is a general result of sin on the world.
While the kingdom is indeed of righteousness, health is not. Just as wealth is not a measure of God’s favor, neither is health an indicator of righteousness. I simply cannot currently believe that it is God’s will for all people to be healthy and whole on this earth. Is it possible that He would allow sickness for the purpose of drawing all men to Himself? Pain tells us that we are awake – and awakens us when we are asleep. Is it also possible that He allows sickness simply to draw me closer to Himself? That in my contending for health I am drawn to time with Him?
No, I don’t say that we should not ask for complete healing. (That’s a bit of a step for me, I’ll admit!) We should ask for healing. And also acknowledge God’s hand and power when it does not move in the way we ask. Because the point is knowing Him, my relationship with Him, nothing else.
I will certainly make an effort to find books by the author you mentioned, and I am always open to dialogue and learning as it relates to God. I really appreciate you commenting.
In His Time,
~Joel~
you're in the other room right now
